The National Safety Council has prepared a detailed article on OSHA’s Top 10 most-cited violations for fiscal year 2024. Machine guarding violations remain in the top ten most-cited serious violations with 1,635 violations. OSHA defines a “serious violation” as “one in which there is a substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result, and the employer knew or should have known of the hazard.”
The number of overall death investigations decreased 11% since 2023 down to 826 from 928 in 2023. 35 people died from being caught in machinery during normal operations in 2024, please remember to guard your machinery properly covering all moving parts according to OSHA and ANSI standards.
